This is my dads '91 Rover 820 Mk1 with full TWR kit. Only a limited number of these were produced, and his has been sat on the driveway for the last 5 years since the cambelt snapped.

It was covered in moss and had growths coming from various parts of the body, but after he cleaned it tonight... it came out looking like this.

Now, you'd expect a Rover (of all things) to rust after being sat for 5 years. But no... apart from the odd speck here and there, it's in pretty good condition. Now I just need to convince him to get it back on the road with a new engine (M-series Turbo hopefully ;)) and it'll be awesome.

I'm sure he'll be along here sometime tonight to comment.

I like it, but the later style rover grille on the front looks wrong, it's not supposed to be there is it?

Nope. It should really have the proper Mk1 grille on there, but my grandad (who owned the car before my dad) had the later chrome grille put on there.

It was originally owned by a guy who worked for Rover (I think), then my grandad and now my dad, who's had it for about 8 years.

I would love to put some sirens and blue lights on there :D

Funnily enough, my dad has just posted something on a Rover forum about that. I'm sure he'll pop along later to tell you guys about it ;)

Not often :D

You see that hedge next to the car... he'd posted a thread on Rovertech titled 'Well I cut the hedge' as before it was starting to eat the car :o He cut the hedge today and took the pics posted above.

missing the bottom holes (lol?) in the bumpers sort of spoils it. doesn't look bad for an old barge though

In the front bumper? There's mesh further back ;) It's just the angle of the photos.

Same as in all of the older style bumpers, which had fog lights instead of the black plastic covers.

Although, it's in much better condition then mine! But then... that's not exactly hard :D

i meant the holes in the bottom edges in the front and rear bumper look like they weren't cleaned. still kinda, green

Ohhhhh, sorry. I understand now. I can see what you mean though. I'll make sure they're nice and clean after I've been to his house on Sunday. :)

Wonder why he didn't bother to clean those though. :(
