Bit disappointed really. Brilliant sky with jet trails, clouds, red sky/sunrise and low level mist over the Knavesmire. Proved a bit beyond my abilities to capture it all.

Photo is of the grandstand at York Racecourse. Been cropped and the brightness has been altered, but thats all.

Anyone got any tips for capturing buildings with the sunrise behind it any better? Have tired a few HDR ones and because of the vast difference in brightness meant there was just too much noise.

Well the colours are awesome.

I think it could do with a little less building and more sky. The foreground is a little bland. I would've maybe stood further back, widened the lens or looked for an alternate angle of the racecourse.

Just my 2p :)

Yeah. Why were you shooting at 150mm

Lovely colours in the sky though.

Hmm... well to be honest in my eyes the fact that there is a stonking great building in the shot really shuns my eye away. But, the colours do look remarkable. Best thing you can do is just keep experimenting!

Original shot was much wider however all the building and lower half of the photo were two dark to use, hence I have cropped all but the silhouette of the grandstand out. This sky came out better in this one than any of the others, just a shame there wasn't more of it. As I said, the plan was to use HDR to make the buildings visible as well as the sky. Didn't work as well as I had planned, but I still really liked the sky in this pic, even if the composition was pants. The ones that were better composed had badly overexposed sky. Will try again one morning on the way home from work, preferably when its less cold than this and I have gloves with me!

Cheers for the feedback and advice. :D
