One larger SSD or two smaller ones?

Having multiple hard rives, one for the OS and one for applications/games for instance, increases performance noticeably as latencies and queues go down and IOPS go up. That I do know.

Then what about SSDs? Would there be an discernible benefit from having a smaller SSD (say a Corsair F40) as a system drive and then a larger one for installing games on? Or are they just too fast for that to have any major impact?

No point in separating OS and apps/games on SSDs. You basically should decide between these two configs:

- 2 SSDs in RAID 0 (generally faster but no TRIM so might need secure erase and reinstall every now and then)
- 1 SSD (TRIM so peak performance should be retained)

Both cost essentially the same assuming you have a SATA controller that supports RAID 0.
