Im not really interested in 3D, Im buying purely for the 120Hz as I do a lot of gaming.

What I really want to know as a Sapphire AMD 7870 user if I can use the 120hz straight out the box, or if I need to purchase something like:

to use it. As far as I can tell I dont since the 7870 is dual link DVI but since Im being especially dumb atm Id like clarification before I hit the buy button :)

Thanks!

You can get 120Hz out of the box as long as you only want 1 monitor.

Simply connect the dual link DVI on the graphics card to the dual link DVI on the monitor using a dual link DVI cable (which is usually supplied with the monitor but check the manufacturer specs).

Did I mention dual link DVI enough?

This.

I just got the 23" samsung. Very nice looking monitor, tiny bezels, very slim, lovely picture quailty for the price vat deal that was just on. 120hz is awesome and the 3d looks good. Easy to use touch sensitive menu buttons. You may need to put it on a block as it sits quite low and calibrate the colours. The screen has a slight gloss, but it's better than the matte finish. I had to select 120hz in the display properties, and select fastest response time on the samsung menu.

How reflective is the Samsung, I'm ready to buy but coming from a matte monitor, this is putting me off. PCM2's advice points towards the Samsung 700

I came from a matte finish, i definetily prefer the Slight gloss on the samsung. It just makes things look a little smoother i feel. It's more glossy on darker colours but not really in anway that makes you think Oh My God. Obv it's each to there own. Ocuk are doing a deal on the samsung 24" now aren't they? But it isn't 120hz??
