One Monitor, dual screen?

Hi have a bit of a problem, we have bought a plasma display at work to go in reception which is loop a powerpoint presentation, however also at the same time we want to to show a ticker bar across the bottom. Normally powerpoint shows presentations in fullscreen, so does anyone know of a way we could get powerpoint to be displayed across the top 1/3 of the screen, and then a seperate program shown across the bottom 1/3rd?

I was thinking if there are any programs available that would allow me to setup a virtual dual screen on one monitor. I have tried the MS virtual desktop manager, however that splits the screen 4 ways.

Any ideas?

Could you not have both open, by set the ticker to the active screen?
