One more Monitor?

Evening all. :)

At the moment, I currently have a BenQ G2420HDBL and really like it. I was thinking about picking up another, for the extra desktop space and usefulness when programming.

I noticed it was on This Week Only Offer and I think it is a good price at £125, I paid £165 for mine last year.

My question is- would I best getting just one more or is there really that much of an improvement both in games and general use by having 3 monitors?

Cheers :)

More monitors is always better :D

Well I find it is, especially if what you are doing uses up a lot of screen real-estate.

As for gaming, running games in AMD eyefinity or Nvidia surround is supposed to be really nice - however you will need a pretty beefy graphics card(s) to get good performance at such a massive resolution.

For games themselves a dual setup is useless, they are however useful to put ventrilo or a walkthrough or something on while you game. If you actually want to use the monitors for the games themselves you'll need a minimum of three.
If you got an AMD 5xxx or higher card you also need an active displayport to DVI adapter, in case of NVIDIA.. no idea what NVIDIA surround requires, a second videocard card unless you got the GTX590 I think.

I couldn't live without my second monitor. I can have games/tv on my main and web/chat/ts on my second.

For three I think you need a specific reason why 2 isn't enough.

If you get 2 you will probably end up getting rid and getting 1 big one, it sounds good initially and i did it but its just not as good as one bigger one imo unless your job really does require a seperate screen for another program etc.

Or you just get one big one and keep the other two ;)
