Hi all,

Going on a Caribbean cruise in April, which will be sailing Miami > Miami. We'll be arriving the day before embarkation in the afternoon, so will need a place to stay in Miami for the night. Miami seems to have a very mixed reputation so I'm looking for the best areas to be, or areas to avoid. I'm expecting we'll just pre-book a transfer from the airport to hotel, and from the hotel to the port.

What's your budget?

I work in cruise and stay in Miami twice a year, I usually stay at the Hyatt Regency as it is relatively (compared to the likes of the InterContinental) cheap, and is spitting distance from Brickell which is a nice area to mooch about in. It's also super close to the cruise port, 10 minutes by Uber.

If you are budget conscious, Yotel a few blocks north is cheaper, but also more bare-bones and the surrounding area is a bit yuckier, but super close to Bay Front Park and Bayside.

There are more options for a variety of prices on the actual Miami Beach island, but that is much further from the cruise terminal, and I can't offer any suggestions there.
