Hello,

I have one red light on my 360 in the bottom right hand corner and cannot get past this without it crashing.

The error codes have been E71 and E79.

I purchased the 360 from my local ASDA on Christmas Eve last year should they swap it?

Thanks!

Hi,

Found this website:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t484726.html

scroll down a bit and it shows what the fault codes are.

E71: possibly a dashboard update error, there is no solution at present the console must be sent back to MS for repair
E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

Hope the above helps :)

Yup, though I think they can take the option of sending it off for repair instead of replacing it on the spot, though I imagine it'll just be a straight swap if they have stock.

P.S

I can't atm find a reciept MS won't need this right I just won't be able to take back to ASDA?

How about a bank statement would that do?

Why couldn't they just leave my 360 alone

So anoying!!

I have a bank statement going with ASDA first.

If I go back to ASDA and they give me any jipp anybody got the link to somewhere where it says they have to take it back I heard VIRII talking about similar.

Thanks

Is the warranty with the retailer or Microsoft though?
Warranty is a red herring, your statutory rights are nothing to do with the "warranty".
Check out the DTI fact sheets for the Sale of Goods act.

http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page24700.html

Not many people including retailers seem to be particularly aware of the SOGA and what your statutory rights actually are or that the onus remains with the retailer to sort out issues.

Print it out, take it with you, be sure that you properly understand it.
You should get a straight swap, it might be a good idea to take a print from MS regarding the E71 code as well.

All in you ought to be able to get a swap there and then, not worth Asdas while to fob you off but it'll boil down to the person you deal with who may or may not understand SOGA and may or may not replace/refund.
When I get grief I simply say "fine refund it then", you are within your 1 year and the error code shows it is a problem with the device not with your use of it.
