Has anyone practical experience of MS OneDrive ? (Cloud storage).
As a trial I tried to upload a 500MB file and despite a normal broadband upload rate of 1-2Mb/s I had only achieved upload of 50MB after an hour so about 0.1Mb/s.
Googling this seems a common experience with MS's Chinese servers being blamed, MS's forum's have many complaints too, with the typical re-install the s/w, check for MS updates, and little practical help from MS employees.
Should I just use dropbox ?

Yes.

OneDrive is a brillaint idea implimented terribly. OneDrive for business is even worse.

They had such a perfect opportunity with Windows 10 to make OneDrive seemless and perfect, and they ballsed it up.

OK a couple of subsequent trials have each achieved upload about 200MB an hour so ~0.5Mb/s which I guess is acceptable given BB only 1-2Mbs
but not sure if variability is down to me doing other (non-upload) things on computer.
I am uploading inside IE (not OneDrive app) so IE might unload/de-prioritize non
current tabs and their child processes

We've just been given a 1TB drive per person at work, and the few docs that i dumped on there the other day seemed to have uploaded very quickly. Will try some larger files tomorrow.

Uploading is fine for me but I do find some days it can get slow. There was even an issue where it couldn't properly sign in for a couple of days, even though other Microsoft services were working completely fine.

Upload speed has always been fine for me, but as soon as we put a few thousand files up, the syncing issues started. This has been an issue since it first came out and is still an issue. It's a shame as we have 365, so a ton of space and what could be an excellent app.

i have 80mbit down 20mbit up
all devices hard wired into a gigabit managed switch
5ms to london internet exchange

onedrive servers are west coast usa based
i get 2-3mbit uploading and 4mbit or so downloading

gastly service

I don't really use it other than for syncing some theme/OS customisation stuff across installs but I've always seen about 17MBit/s upload - problems signing in and syncing issues though aren't unusual.

I've had plenty of problems with the onedrive client signing out and sync issues but always had decent upload speeds. As a side note I'm pretty fed up at the lack of file versioning.

The OD zip download feature is painfully slow, I'm lucky if I get 400KB/s.

GD zip download saturates the line, but the way GD creates the zip archive is different, so an unfair comparison. mega.co.nz's zip download option is instant, and comes very close to saturating the line.
