One wall socket (ethernet cable) need two connections for PC and Xbox

Whats the cheapest way to do this? I dont have a spare router and I dont have a spare ethernet cable on the back of my PC.

cheap hub

or a cat5 splitter may work (never tried myself)

Cheap switch, hubs are so 90s. Is this a connection in you uni room? If so you might only be able to connect one thing to it.

as said before a cheap switch is simplest the way to go, there are even USB powered (Rather than a mains adapter) versions that keep things a bit tidier (See example link below)

If you're in uni halls check what equipment you're actually allowed to use. A switch will allow both devices access to the network via the one wall socket, but as K.C. Leblanc says there may be limits on how many devices you're allowed to connect, and there may be restrictions in place to prevent you connecting more than one. No point going out and buying a bit of kit if it's not going to help.
