One whole core just for a game.

I may be a plonka but with a dual core can you have everything running on one core and have a whole free core just to run a game? If so wouldn't this make a the CPU appear to give as much grunt to the game as a hell of a lot faster single core.

Sorry I never used dual core so don't know much about how it works.

I've been trying to make my mined up on a CPU I've been concidering 3700+, 146 Opty or a DualCoree 3800+.

You must have had one of them days when your playing online then your anti-virus kicks in you get a big drop in Frames. I'm guessing with a Dualcore you won't get effeced.
I always end up stopping the scan so I can carry on doing what I was doing so I end up never letting my virus protection do its job.

What about if you have two harddrives one for each of the tasks so the the dualcore isn't doing to tasks from the same harddrive.
