hi guys, i have a legit oem copy of windows xp and 2 PCs... one is running win 98 and one the XP copy... the win 98 version has gone so wrong its unreal due to a virus i believe (stupid siblings...) which has resulted in a reinstall. can i stick win xp on the second pc ok as ive paid for it? i dont want to go online with both PCs and microsoft have a fit so im asking this before i do anything else.

cheers

If you have XP Home edition retail you can install it on multiple computers you own. If its OEM however it's tied to the computer it was installed on and will not activate on other computers. Correct me if I'm wrong :D

Yep, your wrong. Unless its a corperate version you can only legitamatley install it on 1 PC at a time.
My version of XP Home that came with my 1st PC from a competitor is now on its 3rd system and working fine.

Ah, I had a feeling that's how it worked. So XP retail can be moved to diff computers only if it's uninstalled from the others? It can't be installed on 2 at once?

You can put it onto as many PC's as you want, you just wont be able to register it on more than one
