So last year, around this time i purchased my first "next-gen" console.
I bought the xbox 360, premium with hdmi for ~ £220.

The whole package contained: Halo 3, Assassins Creed, Fifa 08, Viva Pinata and Forza 2.

After that i purchased, Naruto: Rise of the Ninja, Stranglehold, Devil May Cry 4, Ghost Recon, Rainbow 6, PGR 4, Perfect Dark 0, Pro Evo, Lost Odyssey, Gears of War and Crackdown. I think thats it.

Out of all those games i have completed Halo, Naruto, GoW and Crackdown that's it. I find the games just don't have the playability as my GC or N64. I'm not sure why though, majority of games that i have are really good. I just don't have the urge to play them. I don't know if people are the same as me or not

I started playing Tales of Symphonia on GC this week, and i love it. Played 10 hours so far, holds my attention much more than any of the xbox games. I find there is a distinct lack of any rpg's on 360, I am not into stuff like Mass Effect.

Gears of War, Halo 3, Pro Evo are games i play with my brother. I hated the single player campaign on both gears and halo, i found it much more enjoyable when playing with someone else.
I really enjoyed playing xbox live, its my first time playing online. I only play
halo 3 online but it is pretty good, but is sometimes pretty laggy.

The media streaming is a really good feature on the 360, but i still want of a PS3, for the blu-ray drive and the hard drive features.

While I think i made the right choice in console, I still think that the games that are out just aren't as good as older games. What do you all think?

There wasn't any real point to the thread, just what i feel since owning a 360 for a year.

Perhaps it's due to getting older! I find now that I don't have as much patience as I did 10-15 years ago. RPGs are increasingly difficult for me to complete due to the time you need to spend on them. A game needs to be shorter and half the price for my liking these days.

I first thought that as well, and i believe it has some truth to it. I prefer to go out instead of sitting down playing video games. This week i have spent 10hours this week playing Tales of Symphonia, whereas with Lost Odyssey i have played 40 hours since release date all of ~6 months ago.

I bought all consoles, but since I am a casual player (long work hours plus the outdoors) i tend to play in short bursts. To me, the Xbox was a hardcore gamer machine and I never really played it, whilst I like the informal PS3 and Wii, which I still play.

I'm in the same situation as you, bought my 360 12 months ago and own about 15 games for it.
However I find that I have completed more and (possibly due to achievements) have more drive to spend time completing these games than any console I previously owned since the NES.

With the PS2 / XBOX I found that the ability to save games made you play them less in one sitting. Older consoles forced you to play for longer and were much shorter and could be completed in just a few hours where as now you can play in short bursts, and the really good quality games are coming out so frequently and can be so big that you just don't have time to complete them.

Too human is my most recent conquest and because its so short (10-12 hours) I have gone through it twice.
Larger games (Blue dragon, Crackdown, Mass Effect, Oblivion) I have only managed one playthough or have not even finished because they are just too big and I play them so infrequently that I have forgotten the beginning by the time I'm half way through.

Plus the addition of MP gaming means I don't even bother with the SP aspects.

I was forced to complete COD4 SP cause I was afraid of being kicked out of the OCUK elite group (You know who you are) because "I is not wicked enough innit!" :p;)

I remember being able to sit in front of the telly and being able to play Mario 64 all day, i can only do a few hours yet i still think its a fantastic game, When your a kid you feel like you have so much time.

You got older, simple as that. Games don't hold my interest nearly as much as they used to. Yet I am far more interested in selected titles and I am completely obsessed with them in the run up to launch (GTA IV and FIFA 09 spring to mind)

I remember the days of playing Road Rash 3, Sonic 2 and FIFA International Soccer for hours, days, weeks on end with no hint of getting bored. Being young for the win!

I am getting older and do have less time for games, but games like Tales of Symphonia will keep me playing where as all these games just dont have that effect.

Me and my brother used to play Sonic 2 for hours and hours at a time, looking at about 6 hours before we had a break. What an amazing game!

I wouldn't say there was a lack of RPG's.

Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Enchanted Arms come to mind straight away.

There only one thing you need.

Little Big Planet

The child inside of you wants to be free!

Buy a ps3!

Enchanted Arms 7.1 http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/emenchantarm/index.html?tag=result;title;0

Nothing really good! out of those i have played Lost Odyssey and thought it was average and nothing more. The story line picked up in disc 3!!

I'll add I have played A LOT of RPG's and Enchanted Arms is one of the very best! Took me by suprise as well but it really is an amazing game.

I don't know. I thought Blue Dragon was really good and the 79/100 metacritic gives it is much closer to the mark in my book. Also while it would be fair to criticise some of Lost Odysseys antiquated design descisions it's story was poignant and as strong as anything I've seen for years in a jrpg. Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery and Enchanted Arms might not be AAA titles they're all very solid titles and no worse than the majority of rpgs other generations have given us.

With Star Ocean 4, Last Remnant and Tales of Vesperia all due out in Europe over the next few months coupled with western rpgs like Sacred 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Two Worlds: Temptation I'd hardly say the system was starved of rpgs.

Slightly off topic, but Eternal Sonata is worth a shout too as an Xbox 360 RPG. Not perfect by any means but a lovelly game with some enjoyable features.

I've seen it for circa £10 now days.

i've been playing Forza 2 for over a year and im still not bored. especially when you can do this

Nice :) My mate has an Xbox 360 and for a few reasons I prefer it to the PS3. For me I prefer the games on it and the controllers.
