Not being an expert in any way with av equipment I do have an Onkyo 606 which i purchased 6 months ago second hand for a nice price, its been great.
But this week it has stopped passing any signal through I have an HTPC, Sky HD box and Blu ray player all going through it and it now wont output. All devices have been unplugged and tested on the tv seperately and work fine, butr the onkyo just says no signal when trying to.

Would appreciate any help or advice.

It sounds like the HDMI board has died. Unfortunately that could be an expensive repair. I suggest that you give GenServe (Onkyo's UK repair agents) a call and see what they say. They may be able to identify the issue over the phone and give you a price for repair.

HDMI daughterboard failure.....a very common fault on the Onkyo 606. Mine has been replaced 3 times now.....which is why I replaced it as my main amp with a Yamaha.

Which Yamaha did you got with? I am looking at a 673 to replace my 657.

Previous owner is actually a friend, they will help me as best they can but I would think its out of any warranty.

Well that's good to hear.

Onkyo 606 HDMI problem is a well know issue, just google.

I known several peeps who have manage to get Onkyo to repair/replaced item, even when it was just outside the 2 year warranty.
Onkyo has a customer care line 08142-420811.

Also see this link, might give you something to fight with, some products were recalled.

Trouble is Onkyo don't recognise the excessive heat problem with the 606 which is the main cause of the board failure......mine has had 3 new boards now in just over 4 years....all repaired under warranty by Genserve.

I have to say that GenServe were pretty fair with me. When my TX-NR807 HDMI board failed for the second time (within 3 months of its first repair) and after a bit of haggling with Onkyo UK, they swapped it for a TX-NR1008 that was returned faulty (within a week of purchase) but Onkyo could not find any fault, and have given me 12 months warranty on it.

Have sent an email to Onkyo and awaiting reply , I have to say after hearing the hype given to Onkyo I am disappointed that my receiver has failed after 6 months of me having it , but have not heard from them yet in reguard on how to proceed. Thanks for the advice and info everyone.

How old is is it?

Reading up on Onkyo,606, 707, & 808, it the same fault that crops up, generation after generation, so to me it's a bad design.

its just over 2 years old I believe , something strange tho is happening. I called the customer care number and it tells me its not a recognized number , so i assumed i was misdialing or it was a european number after a call to both uk and european operator they both tell me its not a valid number and that this is indeed the number given for Onkyo customer care.

I am now confused , anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong ?

Will try this number today thanks , i already have an email in with their support been waiting 5 days now for a reply.
