I know this topic may be a bit old, but this week my Onkyo reciever has stopped playing audio. I have the HTR -758 reciever which was part of HTIB package, HTS6505. It was by chance & Googling it that I found out about the recall/fault. I popped the serial number into the Onkyo recall page and amazingly they still cover it. I am confused on what to do. They give you £150 credit/trade in towards a new one( which I think is ******** ) or send off. Gut feeling is they have no parts, so can’t be fixed. Has anyone gone down this route??

Depends entirely on the fault. Can you get the £150 as cash? If so it might be worth contacting the place you bought it from to see if they'll fix it for the £150, or find out where they would send it. The fact Onkyo are suggesting sending it off given what you've put doesn't suggest to me they've run out of parts. On my old Onkyo receiver the display stopped working, but after a bit of Googling I found it was some capacitors that were known to fail, I suppose I should have looked into the warranty side of things but instead bought some new capacitors and fixed it myself for about £10. Hence why if you can get the £150 as a cash sum and find out what exactly fails then it might be easy to get the parts and dependant on how capable you are with a soldering iron fit them yourself, or get someone to do it for you.

It will be a phone call tomorrow to Onkyo & see how the land really lies... £150 cash & a quick fix would do me. Will try to work out from them the exact part/parts needed. I think it’s a chip & board. Mind you i’m Not that technical!! My father in law had a display issue with an older unit & did the same as you. He might be getting the job

Onkyo used under spec'd resistors in the display circuitry on some of the older models and they were prone to burning out. I fixed my txsr805 recently, amazing it lasted that long, really.

I had the TX-SR875 which I think lasted just over a year. If it had HDMI 2.2 I'd gladly have it back, it was built like a tank and although I rarely used the power stages on it as I have dedicated power amps for that, the inbuilt ones were certainly more than capable.

Well I called Onkyo on Monday & decided to get the repair done. The advisor could not tell me the fault & I did not see the value in the forced change of a new reciever with discount. Anyway, DPD collected yesterday@12 & got an email this afternoon saying repair is done & DPD will drop off tomorrow. Now that is pretty dam quick & efficient!! Let’s hope it is fixed ... we’ll find out tomorrow night

Happened to me with both my Onkyo 609's. Sent them off, it was the HDMI board or something they replaced, and got them back. This was a few years ago now mind you, and they have been working great ever since.

Well I can’t grumble at all in the service & speed of this repair. Called Onkyo last Monday, DPD collected on the Weds, got an email to say it was repaired by Thursday pm & it was delivered back to me Friday lunch. Pretty happy with that. All works fine

Can't fault Onkyos customer service. Had a similar thing last year when I needed to upgrade to a 4k / Atmos receiver. Turns out that my old 616 was covered for an upgrade deal under the HDMI board fail thing. So I filled in the form online , they collected my 616 within 48 hours and a couple of days after that they sent me a brand spanking new 646.
Cost £150 to do it but it was well worth it.
