If you had a choice between the two at the same price, which one would be the better buy?

I've got the option of getting either one of the same price, and I can't decide which is better. Does anyone have any input that could help sway me either way?

Well, it depends on your specific priorities which you haven't listed, but my gut reaction would be the 616. Better power amps, smarter EQ, dual HDMI out, better scaling....

I'd also say the 616 too if I were buying.

At various places I'm advised to take Yamaha I'm getting the RX-V375 but the Onkyo 616 looks great.

120 watts per channel on the Onkyo vs 80 on the Yamaha I'm getting. Hmm..

I am kinda leaning towards the 616, the only real advantage I can see from the 525 is the fact that it has 4K pass through, which is something the 616 lacks, however the 616 does 4K upscaling.

My requirements are to use it for movies, games, and occasionally music.

My speakers are 2x Acoustic Energy AE505 floor standers, 2x AE Aegis Compacts for the rears, and a a centre speaker from the same range.

Okay so I bought a TX-NR616 today from richer sounds for £154 with their 5 year super care service. It was from their clearance section but it hadn't even been opened, so that was a really nice plus.

I've set it up with my HTPC and PS3, and it's sounding good, but I haven't had any time to have a proper play with it.
