Onkyo TXSR505 - Good "Cheap" AV Receiver?

Looking for a cheapish AV Receiver and Speakers, however i'd at least like to be able to take some advantage of the increased audio from Blu-Ray/HD-DVD (I have both). This meets the requirements for that (I think?) as it has HDMI 1.1 for the PS3 and an Digital Optical In for the 360.

Would this be an ok buy? I've found it for under £250, what would be good speakers to go with this one? Could probably find space for a 6.1 setup.

Im in exactly the same boat as you. From what I gathered on the AV forums, the Sony STR-DG 910 maybe a better alternative.

99% sure the 505 doesnt do any HD audio via HDMI, video only.

The 910 will do PCM but i listened to one and was not all that impressed. Even the 605 didnt sound all that good with HDMI audio but much better than the other 2.
