Online backup / 2 Internet Connections

I've just signed up with an online backup service called Mozy as I want to make sure I've got an offsite backup of all my really irreplaceable stuff (family photos etc.). You can get 2Gb space for free, however I've signed up for the 30Gb space for US$4.95 per month, which looks pretty reasonable, especially with exchange rates as they are at the moment. :D
However, the paltry 256Kbit upload on my ADSL is now beginning to get more than a little stretched. It's already getting quite hammered already with some large files / emails over my work VPN connection, online gaming, Skype etc.

My network setup at the moment is:

Would it be possible to hook up a second internet connection to my server (either ADSL or NTL cable) such that all external internet traffic from the server (including online backup) would go through the second connection, but that the server would still be accessible by all of the other PCs?

I wouldn't need anything fancy like load balancing, as none of the other PCs would need to use the second internet connection.

Any help/advice gratefully received. :)

yea quite possible.

just set a second NIC in the server for the 2nd internet connection, and set the metric or change the priority/order that windows looks at the networks.

But one question. - Are going to pay for a new connection just for the upload?

You may as well just get the most bog standard download speed (most likely cheaper) and still get the same upload...

How totally excessive your setup is lmao

Mate, theres in all probability, a door, attached to your house.....it leads to a different life....

;)

I'm struggling to understand your comment - yes I know you had a wink at the end, but it didn't really come across like that. Why is my setup totally excessive (and by implication that I don't have a life...)? I happen to have one PC and one server (my old PC which I use for backups). I have two laptops (provided by work), and 3 kids with assorted PCs, laptops and XBOXs.

Work pay for my existing ADSL (2Mbit Zen ADSL) so that's not a major issue. I could get Sky Broadband Max for £10 per month on the second phone line into the house, or NTL cable. Anyone have any idea how the upload speed for NTL varies across their product range?

Not sure about the upload across the ranges of products, but what i'd do in your situation is, (as ntl do have the faster (maximum) upload speed overall i think (certainly faster than TW)) - I would get an NTL 10meg, use that as your normal home connection, and use your 2meg for your backups (yes its slow but its dedicated.), and you have yourself a very much quicker line for your day-to-day usage.
