Online backup - Amazon any good?

I was reading the thread about the problem with the NAS drive earlier and it got me thinking I should really be backing my data up online as well as onto external HDDs.

I have had a look at Amazon and you can get a free account with 5GB of storage which would current the current data I have but obviously give me the option to add more if needed in the future.

One thing I need from an online backup is to be able to select the folder(s) I want to backup unlike drop box and a few of the others I have tried where they only backup what's in that specific folder. I have everything under one folder C:\Company data and don't really want to change this because it has DB files in there and all sort of Excel links etc that may break if renamed.

Also, final question, how do you actually make the backup to somewhere like Amazon? Do they have an app or do you need to use an FTP program? Ideally I would like it to happen automatically but not essential.

Or is there a better option out there?

Thanks

I've started a trial of crashplan+ which seem quite good. This uses an app to backup folder sources.

All my backups run to the NAS and I then set crashplan to backup the share.

You can use junction points with dropbox by the way

OP what you describe is auto path backups. I.e. point the backup to a local path and have it backup in the background.

Consumer option - SugarSync
Commercial option - Acronis

I use Crashplan and it's superb. Never had any issues and it just works away in the background.
