Online dating, decent sites

Maybe its because I get friend zoned that makes me negative and depressed, as I said I go into it confident, happy and positive but its what happens afterwards where I lose my confidence. There are many guys that have the same experience and I'm not blaming women, its just the way things are in today's society.

Dating apps are the worse thing that ever happened to meeting women. Got a few friends that use them and nigh on every one says the same thing, it seems that women are just using them to get a free day out or a meal. Ditch the apps and just get out and meet people the old fashioned way.

Agree with this myself. Too artifical for me. Works for others. But it never did for me.

I much prefer the organic route

The only useful advice I can give OP is to do whatever Housey says and the opposite of whatever malachi says.

Yeah...so he should continue to date women who are on head meds  You need to circle back and read my earlier posts.

And for the record. Returned from holiday yesterday and just finished having a dating with an Doctor, who actually very nice :)

Dating apps can work if you don't get too hung up on them and make an effort.

But hey, Im not on here complaining about the state of dating apps and women. Its 2026 not 2006 (or 1976 for some of you! :D) times have moved on.

I agree... I remember when I used to go out to night clubs I would often come out with women's phone numbers bearing in mind I was almost drunk half the time by the end of the nights. I got way more success meeting in person but you really have to go to the right places for it. this was back in the early 2000s. In 2026 its not as good as it once was or as easy, its a lot harder now to meet women who are actually looking for men in general.

Online dating & things in general have mostly been replaced online rather than physical places and dating is one of them. I will say online dating is not the best way to find women however in many cases it can be the only avenue. I have found some appropriate evening clubs that are held monthly that I'm gonna go to. I must look into more avenues outside of the internet tho its just a matter of time figuring things out and seeing whats about as well as using more dating apps as well.

I gotta say I disagree with this 'hating on online dating' perspective. I found that online dating was pretty chill. Easy to socialise with many more people thus opening many more opportunities, and is nothing more than a social network profile to facilitate the communication.

Yes, exploitation is a thing... but it's also extremely common irl too.

But you started by posting in this thread about how you think you've found the one.

Then you go on a couple dates, and then post about how you're taking a break from online dating.

The failure here is on you, in that, you didn't find the one, how could you know that before you'd even met.

You put that pressure on the situation.

And then. Because you put so much pressure on it, when it wasn't the one, you've had to take a break.

You should never have taken a break even while chatting to her. You could have continued to use the apps, lining up more dates with others, or at least starting to find matches to have a quick conversation with.

I just didn't get on with it.
I didn't like knowing why I was there and the expectation. And especially the cost. If everyone split bills 50/50 it wouldn't have been half as bad. But I didn't have the confidence to ask that.

It just wasn't for me really.

I also wouldn't use it now either. I doubt I'd have much luck! Or maybe I would as many women this age would be done with kids by now! :D

Ah, you see I never rushed for a date with anyone. I message, if we vibe then we vibe, else **** wasting my time with people who ain't on the same wavelength as me.

Dates usually lead to a relationship or me pushing them into just friends if they aren't quite right, but they never really stick around after that. For me it's not about volume, it's about quality, filter right and then first dates usually turn into long term pretty easy.

Thats because different things happened... anyway I got back on to another dating site...

So far one possible casual meet up this Fri/Sat although not finalized yet... Another woman has also given me her number.... and then I've got another possible date arranged for Sunday just waiting for that one to get back to me with a time. So that's 3 possibles so far...

A lot of the dates I went on some offered to pay while others split the bill but I don't like a woman paying because it don't feel right so I pay for both of us or split the bill depending on the date. I do prefer to go for tea/coffee on the first date tho. Its not always dinner dates, it could be a walk in the park or whatever.... or you can get stood up which has also happened to me but its to be expected because you never know who your going to meet or where your gonna end up.

Online dating can be hit & miss

Update...

I went on two dates the first one was a bit strange but it went ok, then afterwards she got angry at me just because I responded to her message 2 minutes late. She expected me to reply instantly and be looking at my phone 24/7 and she didn't like it when I didn't see her other message she sent at 3am when I was sleeping so I thought thats not gonna be a good relationship so I walked away from that one.

Second date was ok, she was straight up honest with me and we spent about 4 hours together, she said she isn't quite sure what she wanted but we have been texting since. She wants to meet me again so I will keep her in my dating circle for now and see if anything goes anywhere.

I got some events planned in the next coming weeks so maybe I might meet somebody then in person rather than online.

I'm loving the online dating. Meeting lots of interesting people, having some fabulous bedroom activity and just being social. I'm doing things that I'd like to do with my friends but can't due to their unavailability (mainly due to kids). I'm going into each date open minded and just excited to meet someone new and see how things go.

The downside is that it's all rather expensive. I pretty much always go halves, but even then if you're doing a few dates a week it adds up! And, I am really keen to find a partner so I am being more discerning. There's been a few I would have settled for but I'm looking for the unicorn. We shall see if that works.

I recently moved to a smaller town outside Glasgow and struggling to make friends and this a good way to get human contact.

My tips? Don't have lots of chat. A couple of back and forth messages and ask them out. Always a bar for the first date (albeit I've done a dog walk a couple of times). And for the love of god, stop suggesting bowling and mini golf guys. no one wants to do that. Have fun, don't get in your head and use a condom.

Also forget dinner dates for at least the first date. Dinner gets in the way and is expensive

For me its really not that expensive even with a few a week... I don't always get a few week, it can vary with how many I do get because some weeks it can be none and other weeks I could get 5 dates, literally one each day but 3 dates is good enough for me for a week. Some weeks it could be just one or two.

I find that with online dating many women don't actually want to meet up so it can be hard work to get dates, they always want to chat and often say "lets chat for a while before we meet" I do get reluctant to make out on the first date tho because a man has to protect himself. Get to know her first otherwise you could get caught up in something serious. I've met plenty of crazy women as well as some that are vulnerable and the last thing you want is the police at your door because there has been a false allegation. Think with your head...

I actually have autism so my dating pool is a bit different.

I normally do coffee first date then second date is a dinner date... some are just happy to go to a park, not all of them are wanting dinner dates.

Every woman I have ever been with has never been from online dating. I tried it once and met a few monsters with very flattering profile images which didn't match up. I met one lady who was nice but it didn't go anywhere but we stayed friends for a while. Every woman I have been with, I have known as a friend first then moved on from there. Online dating isn't like buying something from Amazon as someone here seemed to think it was.
