Online dating, decent sites

Every woman I have ever been with has never been from online dating. I tried it once and met a few monsters with very flattering profile images which didn't match up. I met one lady who was nice but it didn't go anywhere but we stayed friends for a while. Every woman I have been with, I have known as a friend first then moved on from there. Online dating isn't like buying something from Amazon as someone here seemed to think it was.
Thats an interesting approach to dating. It can be good to have women as friends... I've been a bit negative on things and I spent sometime reflecting and working on myself and now I'm more positive having women as friends. For me right now, online dating is my only avenue to meet women although I do have some events planned but those are two weeks away and I'm not sure what will become of those events as to whether I actually meet any but I'll keep going with it all. I agree online dating isn't the best but for some its really one of the few avenues available.

My tips? Don't have lots of chat. A couple of back and forth messages and ask them out. Always a bar for the first date (albeit I've done a dog walk a couple of times). And for the love of god, stop suggesting bowling and mini golf guys. no one wants to do that. Have fun, don't get in your head and use a condom.

People still do this!?!?! No wonder it gets expensive!

A simple coffee date or a walk if the weather is good has always been enough for me.

I find that with online dating many women don't actually want to meet up so it can be hard work to get dates, they always want to chat and often say "lets chat for a while before we meet" I do get reluctant to make out on the first date tho because a man has to protect himself. Get to know her first otherwise you could get caught up in something serious. I've met plenty of crazy women as well as some that are vulnerable and the last thing you want is the police at your door because there has been a false allegation. Think with your head...

I see that as they are not interested and I unmatch them. I clearly state this in my bio, also proves if they have read it or not.

Cuts out all the time wasters, met with women within 48 hours of matching with them a few times.

I kind of agree with this, if / when I return to using apps this will be more of my approach, there isn't any need to go beyond somewhat of a brief chat before agreeing to meet, otherwise it just feels like messing around / them window shopping. Rather just move on.

do dating apps not permit an anoymous verbal conversation - can see if they could string words together.

that Vivian tu sounds like the ideal catch (but maybe AI lies)
Vivian's specific hobbies and interests include:Trying New Restaurants and Cafes: She frequently posts about exploring new food spots.Gaming: She is a fan of playing casual, Nintendo, and gacha-style games.Planning and Organizing: She treats "life admin" as a hobby, such as packing her gym bag the night before or setting up financial systems.Cooking: She shares delicious recipes and advocates for easy, low-effort cooking at home.
but, if she can onsite 6a ?

Try 7a and I'd be more impressed!

What are peoples limits on distance for online dating? I try to keep it local but matched with someone a 140 mile drive away (she'd changed her location to my city when we matched). We actually get on great and things are easy between us, but the travelling is grating on me and I just don't think it's sustainable after a few months. We can't do the little things in the week that make a relationship and every meet becomes a whole weekend. This throws me out for the following week as I can't get things done at the weekend, let alone the fuel costs.

If it's a few (I guess the difference between 3-12 is important) months and you're not planning living together, I think the answer's already there right? Depends how old you are/what you're looking for I suppose.

Both 40s, been about 4 months. Neither can really move at the moment, but she said she would be happy to move in a year once we know each other properly. I told her yesterday that I don't think it's sustainable which is a bit sad.

Well the last date I went on this weekend was crazy, it was wild we spent two days together... we met at 10 at in the evening as she wanted to go see the football and we spent it in the pub and we she wanted to go to the off license to buy more drink afterwards, i didn't know she was an alcoholic and then we went back to hers, I was careful but I tell ya it was wild, stayed up all night, I also had a drink, I don't drink often but I she drinks every day. Anyway I'll be meeting up with her again but I'm not getting involved with any serious relationship with her plus she told me she sees other guys, so I'm happy with being friends with her and having a bit of fun. I'll shall keep this one in my friends/fun circle.

New week I got another one lined up and this one is hot... so I'm kinda keeping my fingers crossed she likes me so I may have another date lined up later on today. We have been chatting and she likes my photos so maybe... who knows.

90% of Gen Z Experience Phone Phobia

This statistic originates from Australian research highlighted in CBS News. It reveals that 90% of Gen Z experience anxiety about speaking on the phone, ranking an awkward call among their top three life avoidances—alongside stressors like public speaking.

"It's so easy to just text someone quickly, and it's much more private than having a conversation out loud."— Young person interviewed, aged 16-23

The research underscores a cultural shift where voice calls are seen as effortful and invasive compared to texting, with young people expressing strong preferences for the privacy and control offered by digital messaging.
traditional dating - in the UK anyway - you were able to speak to people, maybe things will some full-circle (ie. they'll start doing it again tammzy)

That is very true. I get uncomfortable speaking on the phone because there is anxiety there and thats not something you want when speaking to women. Back in my younger days I was happy using Skype video chat or better still meeting in person and chatting that way it was a lot more easier but messaging such as using Whatsapp is the norm for communication now. I am quite comfortable using whatsapp but speaking on the phone without seeing the person its not as easy. You gotta have full confidence when going into a chat especially when your going to be meeting up with them.

I had been away from the dating scene for a long time previously, mostly because I was happy being single and back when I was dating, we didn't have whatsapp or phone apps, phone apps were pretty new at the time and most used laptops for online dating or went to night clubs which there were a lot more around back then plus other social meeting places to go to. People in general are a lot more isolated today and a lot more people are suffering from mental health disorders than ever before. I suppose you can do video chat on whatsapp however I've not done a video chat in whatsapp yet. I'm quite new to phone apps and using smart phones in general. One of my main dating sites I use is a traditional dating site where I can just sit in front of my PC and get dates on it like I used to and its also the one I've had the most success on.

As for the phone apps, I got a female friend who is going to help me out with things to improve my chances of getting dates on the phone apps and as an experienced dater I know what I need to do to improve my chances, I'm not the best looking guy although I have been told in the past that I do have "some looks" which is a positive and definitely something to work with plus I'm not as young as I used to be. I don't go for the generic superficial women anyway because I know my type and who I'm likely going to have success with.

There are still a small range of traditional online ways to meet women like FaceBook "not the FaceBook dating groups" as those are just full of men but there are ways of meeting women on facebook although you have to be careful by not adding random women otherwise it could result in account suspension if you use it as something that its not intended to be used as. FaceBook is just another tool but you certainly can't rely on it alone.

There are other sites like MeetMe although you do need to do a verification which involves a smartphone but after that you can pretty much use it on your PC.

With phone apps I'm finding them to be a waste of time mostly because nobody responds and its just endless swiping yielding zero results but then again I do have more work to do on those apps for better results.

My new plans are... going clothes shopping with my female friend picking out outfits, buying some mens products such as things for face and hair. A woman knows what looks good on a man. Then we are going to go somewhere to take some good photos of myself for the dating phone apps. I'm pretty good with writing Bio's but I'm gonna get her to take a look at the Bio's to see if anything needs improvement. I think I've got the basics of everything covered with my plans so far for the phone apps.

That's where you will succeed because mens photos on dating apps are terrible.

We can't get away taking a selfie in the bathroom with a dirty mirror or dirty bedroom in the background.

Pay for a few professional photos if you need to and don't be scared to use AI on your photos to improve them . As women used filters on their photos for years.

Absolutely... I plan on doing quite a lot of photos, the more photos I have on my profiles the better plus I will do about 5 or 6 selfies for the ready, edited and touched up. I get asked a lot for a selfie and its crucial that it looks good to progress things to the final meeting stage. The amount of times I spent trying to take a decent selfie is unreal so having a few ready prepared would be very beneficial.
