Random question, companies like Eventbrite allows you to create events online and will allow organisers to use them to book tickets etc.

The problem with Eventbrite is that the attendees signing up through them, their data is held on US servers.

Does anyone know of a similar company, but where the data is held on UK servers?

The issue comes down to GDPR etc and the companies requirement for data to be held within UK.

It is a startup but a colleague of mine founded StreamRooms. I'm certain he could make it UK hosted if it isn't already.

Just because they don't hold data in UK didn't mean they can't be GDPR compliant: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/suppor...ooting/eventbrite-eu-data-protection?lg=en_GB

I've seen this a couple of times where a misunderstanding of the requirements about UK based data storage means certain options are dismissed too quickly. It's worth reviewing how the wording of any restrictions relate to what data and if there can't be exceptions given for a specific subset for a given purpose.

To answer your specific question though: https://www.eventgenius.live/about-us these guys at least started in the UK so might be worth given them a shout.

Thanks all.

Streamrooms - ta for that, i'll pass it on.

We've had it from up high that the data must be on UK only servers. Too many companies say they are GDPR compliant, but then the data is held in the US, Europe and in some cases China etc.

Speaking to a GDPR guy, eventbrite etc can host wherever you want, at a cost - it's a case of engaging with them direct.

Ta all.

As RoyMi6 said earlier - just because the data isn't held on UK servers does not mean that they are not GDPR compliant (and that's even ignoring the elephant in the room that GDPR is an EU initiative that we've adopted, not a UK specific thing).

Sounds like your higher ups don't know what they are talking about.

Purely anecdotal but the civil service use eventbrite for lots of even bookings. We are very over cautious when it comes to security so I imagine they are pretty secure with data.
