For some reason, my pings are suddenly really high, and it takes ages for me to connect to an online game (if it connects at all). Normal internet and downloading seems fine.

It used to be fine, and I havnt changed any settings at all.

XP, Orange 2Mb broadband, using NF4 firewall and AVG8. Windows firewall is turned off.

Any ideas?

I take it you have tried multiple servers to rule out one gameserver having issues?

Other than that, are you the only one on your connection?
Do you connect via ethernet or wireless to your router?
What are the pings like to your routers IP?
Is your router running wifi? if so are you sure no-one else is on it (invited or not)

@TrX

Im the only one on the connection.
Its ethernet cable
No idea
I is Wifi, encrypted but it doesnt seem to affect this problem if someone is using it. Sometimes its fine, then suddenly it will grind to a halt

Im on orange broadband aswell, recently getting unplayable pings. Loads of packet loss it seems like. Very Disapointed :mad:

Just been kicked a few times for 'losing key packets', whatever that means. Have Orange changed something recently I wonder?

Im still having the same troubles, some nights its fine, but tonight has been awfull, pings only 100 but its skipping all over the place, my cousin who lives in the same town is having exactly the same trouble. Hes on orange.

The lowest ping i can get is 170 on COD4, cant even get on any servers. Might give Orange a ring tomorrow to see whats going on.
