I was ordering a fascia for a Nokia 6288 last night and right at the last stage, when the Natwest Secure Code page up, I noticed that the discount code had not been applied.

So I clicked Cancel on that page, and was brought to a page which said Order Confirmed (I also received an email confirming this). Now this morning, I have another email saying order dispatched.

Could the payment have worked without me entering my password?

It should'nt proceed with the payment if you didnt enter your password, chech your bank statement to see if the money has left your account.

sounds like those dodgy sites that when you click on the X to close it opens an exe download hehe

I am on the phone to Natwest now and it has gone through... I am asking them why they authorised it without my password! What is the point of this extra level of security if it can be bypassed so easily?

The lady told me that merchants can easily force the payment through even though the SecureCode has not been entered

SecureCode is an optional step - a poorly programmed merchant site might not verify the return code from the SecureCode.
