Are online tools such as http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp trusted within the community? The reason Im wondering is I'm wanting to add some additional fans and another gfx card to crossfire.

(The only part Im not sure on is the 'water cooling part' as im unsure of what power the H50 pump power uses.)

My current PSU
Antec Truepower 750w

Results
Here are the results of the calculator minus anything selected in the water cooling section.

After filling in my kit, im getting the result of :

  • 478 W - Minumum
  • 528 W - Recommended

My kit plus a second card for crossfire gives me :

  • 595 W - Minumum
  • 645 W - Recommended

Do these results sound in the correct regions, should they be trusted or is PSU upgrade on the cards to say a 1000w?

I'd be interested to know what others think of that PSU calculator too cos i paid a subscription ages ago and found it really useful.

youve got to take these things with a pinch of salt

- bad psu manufacturers make psu;s that dont really output what they say they do to save money

- good psu manufactuers make psu;s that output a little more than they say they do just in ase

- the online calculators over compensate by a factor so they dont get blamed if someone uses their site to base their psu from and it goes wrong
