Hey all!

So since I bought my first property August last year, I've been feeling the pinch! :p

So I've been looking into maybe taking on some part-time work online - Really only interested in doing maybe 2 - 3 nights a week for a few hours a night.

I've been looking into it and have come across a site TakeNoteTyping.

From the sounds of it, you get to choose a "shift" (Morning/Day/Evening/Weekend) and you get 60 - 90 minutes of audio you need to transcribe into word.

Seems like fairly easy money if you are speedy on the keyboard.

Has anyone tried this before? Or have any alternatives I could take a look at?

Thanks,
Marky

What's your profession and any way you can do something more specialised? For example i do little bits of book keeping work on the side as i'm an Accountant.

People Per Hour used to be alright for a variety of stuff but it's generally just people in the far east doing work for pennies now.

I was an Electrical Engineer, now I'm Key Accounts Manager (basically keeping our best customers happy).

People Per Hour is another one I'm looking into - I see there are some Data Entry jobs available, which is boring but easy work :p

In b4 someone suggests matched betting.

Just DM @Diddums for some links etc...

Not interested in it really - I tried it a few years back and made about £200, just using some automated system which told me exactly what bets to place etc.

I literally can't think of anything worse than transcribing an hour long audio recording.

Seriously? :p

I've been reading it'll take between 2 - 4 hours per 60 minutes of audio dependent on how quick you are obviously :p Just sounds like something I could do while running on "autopilot" :p But to be honest, the data entry jobs sound a bit better as at least I could listen to music while doing it...

Additional question for you all - Will I need to declare myself as self-employed if I register and take jobs on Peopleperhour.com? With TakeNoteTyping, they ask that you declare yourself self-employed.

I've done transcribing before. It's OK for the first 10 minutes. Then it's a massive pain because it's sooooooo boring.

YMMV but I wouldn't do it again unless it was for a favour to someone.

Hmm interesting - Thanks a lot for your feedback :)

This.

How much can you actually earn from doing this? are we talking like £10 for an hours work?

From what I've read at the moment, it's about £7 - £12 an hour. So yeah, not much, but work that I'm able to do from the comfort of home sounds appealing for a little extra dough a month :p

Done a bit more research into PeoplePerHour - Totally forgot that I actually have a freelance-able skill! :p I'm a fully qualified 2D CAD Technician :p Seen a few jobs going for £20/Hour!

Yes. And you'll earn naff all and deal with the kind of people who expect loads of work for £lol per hour.

When I was a poor I went through this whole process. I looked at everything, and I mean everything. Wordpress + adsense? Far too much work and time. Mechanical turk? Competing with people in China and India who feed their whole family for a week on what we earn in an hour. Dropshipping? Good luck making sales. Fiverr / Peopleperhour? You'll spend a whole night writing out sime crap boring thesis think you'll get £15 an hour, only to have to spend the same time again arguing for the payment, or double the time making tweaks / finding spelling errors / whatever.

You've gotta ask yourself what your time is worth to you and how much you value your free time. For example it'll take a minimum of £20 per hour to get me to stop enjoying myself. I'm not going to do something crap for a pittance when I can be making more money doing something else which makes more money and gets the same results, and have more free time for fapping or whatever.

I guarantee you 100% without fail you'll realise this at some point, I'm just trying to save you time and money by getting you there sooner. A brain-vibrator if you will.

Personally I love matched betting because it's something I can do anywhere. I spend a fair amount of time on public transport so it's perfect, same forcif I'm on the khazi. Make a quick buck. I've made over £100 whilst curling one out, and that's 100% legit. I'm not promoting it, you need to find what works for you, for me it's matched betting and I thoroughly enjoy it. It earns money in what would otherwise be time wasted leaving me more time for other stuff.

Now if you'll excuse me this is gonna be one of those ones which requires half a roll of loo paper so I'll be back later.

Ciao xxx

Thanks for your feedback - Obviously, I'm literally dipping my toes in the pool to see if I can make a bit of extra money. I've even considered getting a job at a pub pouring pints at the weekend etc., but I would really rather have a job I can do from home and have it be pretty relaxed work. Not looking to get something for nothing obviously, but if I can use my skills to boost my income, that's all I want really...

But I understand what you're saying, and I will take it on board :)

I understand you can make quite a bit of Matched Betting, but I really have no interest in it at all anymore.

How did you do it? It sounds to me like you were put off by some thing without giving it a proper chance.

It literally ticks all your boxes: relaxed at home, extra pocket money, do it whenever you want.

If I told you you could make £700 by the ebd of March and I'd help you with the first couple of bets, would you want to give it a go?

You can always say no later on, but at least give it a chance :)

Honestly... I think you're right...

When I did it a few years back I was using this automated site which gave you exactly which bets to place etc., and it was taking advantage of a lot of free bet offers for new registrations.

£700 in a month though? Is that right? I feel like I barely made £200 when I did it in the past?

If that is accurate, I will certainly look into reading more about it again (It was so long ago that I did it I wouldn't know where the hell to start!)

I will put a bit of time aside this evening to flick through the Matched Betting thread :)

I'll put money on that site being Profit Accumulator. Absolute rubbish. And yes, provided you still have enough accounts to open and £200 to start with, you can make £700 profit before the month is over. And that's tax free gambling winnings so no declaring, no registering, no tax. Easy peasy.

It looks different but it’s probably just been modernised since I used it - I wouldn’t be surprised if that was it.

I will definitely check out the thread this evening and take a look though - so thanks for your input :)

I still think I’m going to try my hand at a job or 2 with the CAD stuff on PeoplePerHour - I could do with dusting the cobwebs off my CAD experience anyway since I no longer use it in my actual job anymore :p
