Does anyone know of any online checkers to see if there is broadband provisioned on a particular phone line?

IE so say I type my phone number in to a website it will say "Yes there is broadband on this line".

You used to be able to see this from the RAG status, but BTW were told to remove it as it was a breach of the Data Protection Act.

After that time there were a few that still did but they seem very few and far between.
I've just checked the BT checker at http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome for an ADSL and non ADSL line and both say at the bottom:

"Note: If you already have a Broadband service enabled on this line and you want to switch service providers, you will need to contact both your current provider and your new provider to get your service changed over new and existing service provider to have this service transferred."

Thanks for this, I looked on samknows and they seem to have this on their site, I have never noticied this on their site.

Ta.

All sorted :)

Ah yes, I forgot about them (stopped using the site after I got into a disagreement about an exchange location on their site - I told them it was elsewhere and provided pictures yet they told me there was no way BT was wrong and the location they were given, the middle of a field, was 100% correct)

Anyways, they get around it by saying there is "something" on the line and not revealing exactly what it is but 99% of the time it's ADSL.
