I am currently looking to run a website for a Charity and am looking for a few suggestions as to an online Host.
what i would like to find is a service which will allow me to upload and maintain a small website which incorporates a few things.

first would be the ability to use a domain name leased in the Charities name i.e www,MyCharity, org,uk from what i have already found out this cost's approx £10 for 2 years.

secondly i would like to enable an email address incorporated with the website i.e MyCharity@ me.org.uk where the online host included as part of the package at least 1 email address linked with the domain name.

thirdly the ability to use MySQL and PHP. although i currently do not know how to code a website in PHP etc i am currently slowly learning how to do so.
Initialy it will be coded in either Microsft Frontpage or Adobe Dreamweaver for quickness and ease of use, as other members of the charity may require access to make changes to begin with.

And the MOST IMPORTANT THING if possible it MUST BE FREE if not free as very little as possible to run per year.
The Charity in Question is a Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, which do there best to support all Ex Service members of all branches of the British Forces.

Many free web hosting suppliers are plagued with adverts although im sure there are a minority of companies that can provide you web hosting though i cant think of any of the top of my head.

Many on here will/have recommended vidahost. Fast/Cheap services with good support. I saved 10% by using a friends refferal (who also recommended them) so can trust you some info if you choose them.

Get in touch with some hosting companies. Tell them it is for a registered charity and what the charity is. You will find that some will supply you hosting for free. Especially for a charity like yours.

Cheers for the info.

I've just had a quick look at the Vida host site and they seem to provide all the requirements we need to host our website.
Looking at their system it seems they offer a discount for registered UK Charities which i will have to contact them for further information.

You mentioned a discount you received by using a Friends referral, if there is a loyalty scheme where by you receive a discount for referring new customers, send me the details and i will make sure you get the credit you deserve for the recommendation.

All i need to do now is get copies of all the info from Vida host to bring to the attention of our committee for approval.
