only 3 pins in the CPU fan?

I have a very simple, probably stupid question. Sorry :(

I just bought a Thermaltek and a 120mm fan to cool down my poor e2180.
I have noticed that the fan i bought with the heatsink has only 3 pins in the conector. I don't open my box too often but i think that the CPU fan socket has 4 holes. Can i plug my new fan there? Is there anything i am missing?

The fan i got is a Yate Loon D12SL-12. It was a random choice tbh. I hope you can answer me.

Thanks.

Ohh, if for some reason i have toy buy a different fan please tell me what to get. I want to get my e2180 to 3.2 Ghz, maybe 3.4 if i can.

Yeah you can however the fan will not have PWM speed control, the Yate Loons are quiet anyway even at their full speed so this shouldn't be an issue.

As above, it'll work without a problem.

I think that means Molex (the larger 4 pin), which some of them do have... they may have varying stock which will make it difficult to get the description right. The D12-SL doesn't have a PWM compatible connector at all afaik.

I just received two of the same fans for my radiator and they were both three pin, not four as advertised. Great value for money though.
