Only 4 wires going into ethernet jack....?

Hi all
I have attached a picture of the wires going into the ethernet socket. Is it normal for there to only be 4 wires (2 orange and 2 blue) and could this be why I am only getting 2 to 4 mbps download speed most of the time? I am with BT in Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire so full fibre ready we certainly are not!!

Correction: I tried to add a picture but I can't add from phone and I don't have any of them other methods lol

But more than 4 mbps ? Lol I have seen it get to maximum 12 mbps...

Definitely only two pairs and if that picture worked you will see that only the two oranges are actually used. The two blue are just cut and go nowhere

As 4-core cabling and a single used pair (2 'wires') would suggest telephone(/ADSL) to me

I thought they were all called ethernet sockets!!
It is a BT Master socket 5C....

If you're using an ADSL product, then there can be a few reasons to why you're seeing slow download speeds (cabling issues, line length etc) but chatting to your neighbours that are also ADSL users can determine if you actually have an issue or whether or not it's just because your 'out in the sticks' as it were. Definitely get on to BT/your ISP if it is a fault though.

BT Wholesale checker and the Better Internet Dashboard can also help with knowing what's on offer to you.
