Hi All

I am wondering if someone can help with a memory issue I have?

I have 2x 8GB corsair 1600mhz DDR3 memory sticks installed on my motherboard to the corresponding slots i.e both black slots on my board for the dual channel thing, as you can guess I am not great on the hardware side of things.

Windows 10 will only recognise 8GB or ram when it should be 16GB, I will post pics of my spec but I just don't get why it doesn't detect I have 16GB.

Also I cant seem to get into my bios, when I try to I just get a black screen as if it freezes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Also so not really memory related but can anyone tell me if the cpu (in the link) would be an ok cpu upgrade for the board I have?

According to your screenshots, you have 2*4GB RAM sticks, totalling 8GB.

I.e you don’t have 16GB.

Where did you buy it?

Also, you'll have to remove the link to that processor as it falls foul of the rules on here - no competitor links.

That being said - that CPU *should* work, but they're noted for being pretty hungry regarding power and aren't exactly the last word in performance. You're probably better off saving up for a newer upgrade, or looking at second-hand components.

the sticks say 8GB on each which makes me think that they have be labelled incorrectly and everything software and computer wise is fine

That part code/number is for 2x4GB kit.

So there's definitely been some mislabeling.

And FX-8350 has by today's standards very weak performance for anything but code fitting best for it while consuming lots of power.
For comparison Ryzen has something like 50% better IPC while consuming lot less power.
Such cheaper motherboard might even struggle to provide it with enough power for 100% load.
And single thread performance really wouldn't improve from your current CPU.
