I saw it driving down Euston Road a few years back. It stopped at a traffic light and everyone started taking photos
No idea, but I would guess the way some of these "exotica" vehicles are funded are not straightforward as in the same they are when it comes to "run of the mill" road traffic policing cars.
Probably some sort of deal gets done with the supplying manufacturer. Publicity for them would probably mean that the feds get the car to use for a while for very little cash outlay.
I recall when our local lot got one of Scotland's first Escort Cosworth's as a traffic car. We used to turn up at RTC's and see it a lot. The traffic guys said there was usually a fight to get the keys for it at the start of every shift.
