Hello guys, I need some help fixing this issue with my build. Basicly I have a SB build, which is a Asus deluxe, 2600K, which is all fine, clocked to 4.5 ghz, which is stable tested, the only issue i have is that my sound card from my old rig. It does not sound as good as before, and i get a lot of crackling and loud pops now and again. I have disabled onboard sound etc, I am using the latest drivers from creative, its a XtremeMusic version that worked fine before. The speakers connected are the logitech logitech z-5500, It may be a driver issue, or should i just buy a new sound card?

Cheers

Where are your speakers plugged into? If its directly into the soundcard then it may be worth it, if youre using front panel case connector or connecting via a peripheral or something then try it direct into SC first, as these often suffer from this sort of interference youre describing

The speakers are connected directly in to the sound card, I know the speakers are fine because i tried them with the onboard sound, just the sound on onboard isnt as good.

Was worth a shot, with my current system when I rebuilt it I had the problem you described using front panel/peripheral connections but once plugged into SC was crystal clear

Still sounds like EMI/RFI, have a look inside your new build, make sure theres no cables draped across your SC, or try and look into some shielding if necessary, or you may still have same problem with a new card

Yeh will have a look, I spent a long time doing the cable management on this build all the cables are hidden , its a complete new build, New case, psu etc, the only thing old is the sound card, i am tempted to buy a new one. Cheers for the ideas, I will keep trying. Any idea whats a good sound card?, the Asus range looks good
