Hi, I'm trying to upgrade the memory on my computer, atm I have one 512 DDR stick in slot 1, and that works fine, I've taken two 256 DDR sticks out of another computer (where they work fine) and put them in the other two slots on my mobo and it doesn't post, The weird thing is all three sticks work on the mobo if I only put them in on there own, the moment I add a second stick (even if its 2x256) it doesn't post. Any ideas as Im stuck? Thanks

Setup:
3200+ AMD 64
MSI K8T Mobo

I seem to remember that this would happen if you actually wanted to run dual channel (only 2 RAM sticks) and had that selected in the BIOS then 3 RAM sticks (single channel) wouldn't work.

It might be worth having a poke about in the BIOS and see if you have forced dual-channel on.

Quite often on a motherboard with 3 RAM slots, two would be the same colour (the dual channel slots) and the third would be another colour (for single channel use only).

It's worth a shot before you buy anything else. However, by running 3 RAM sticks you make it single channel and probably cripple your performance horribly anyway.

Thanks for the replies, I can't see anything in the BIOS about dual channel setup, I reset the CMOS just to be sure but still no joy, thing is it doesn't work even if I only use the two 256 sticks, which have worked and still work dual channel in another PC!
