only using 4pin atx connector on 8pin board

SHould this work?

I thought I have done this before but I get a CPU init error a asus striker extreme.

I am not 100% sure the board is ok, so I don't want to order a new PSU if it should work with the 4 pin connector

I have tried different CPU and memory

any ideas

Should work fine but it will affect overclocking. Most 8pin boards come with a cover over the bottom 4 pins, What cpu are you running?

e6600 also tried a celeron something (core), I tried resetting the bios for both cpu changes..

I assume its borked then?

Think so i have a q8300 stock clocks with 4 pins (limited by mobo) and it works fine. The only cpu i could see having problems are the core i7 6 cores.
