only works in one slot!

hi,
i just got 2 sticks of Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT for my Abit AV8. The memory only works when in one of the 4 memory slots! the other 3 just result in the all too familiar death beep.

i was careful to get memory that was the correct speed for my board. Any compatibiliy issues i shuold be aware of?

Are they matched? As in did they come as a kit, 2x512MB?
