onOne Software Perfect Effects 8 - For Free

Just read the following article on DPreview, where it mentions that you can download onOne Softwares Perfect Effects 8 Premium for free.

It apparently works as stand alone Windows or Mac software or integrates with Lightroom, Aperture or Photoshop.

Edit - System specs - Requires 8GB of RAM and a 64- bit operating system, Windows 7 or higher, or Mac OS X 10.7 or higher

I got this today thanks for posting.

It seems really poorly optimised though as I dropped it on my laptop at work which is a quad core i7, 8gb Ram with a 240gb SSD and it ground to halt for about 10 mins.

Never had that problem in LR or PS with 24mp RAW's.

Not bad for free though.

strange
on my 6gig ram dualcore laptop it worked fine
although mine aren't 24mp lol

Running absolutely fine on an Intel Q6600 quad core with 8gb ram and a standard hard drive. RAW files are from a Canon 5D MKIII so are reasonably large.

Seems odd that it caused your I7 to grind to a halt.

Yeah, I also installed it on my home machine last which is an i7 875 @ 4ghz, 16gb ram and 2x240gb SSD in RAID 0 and it was absolutely fine.

I've gave it another go on my work laptop today and it killed exporer which I had to restart manually.

After a little bit more digging it seems ESET didn't like it trying to access the domain so it was trying to shut it down.

Had a play with, and I'm not sure I like it really. Pretty much all the most useful filters are things that can be don't in Lightroom.

How do you guys find it?

Perhaps it's because it's a giveaway the filters aren't available as lightroom plugins. All you can do have the image taken out of lightroom for work in Perfect Effects then it pops the new image back into lightroom.
