Hi guys,

Hopefully getting FTTP (Aquiss) installed in about 2 weeks time but wondering if the installers will put the box where you want?
At the moment the master socket is near the front door which splits upstairs to my modem and the other phone line to the phone base in the living room.
There is no power at the master socket (closest socket is kitchen) and I think the ONT has a short 1m power cable. As anyone had similar issue?

Cheers

Have a look here, I asked a very similar question recently:

In summary though, the guy was very helpful and put the ONT exactly where I wanted it. He routed the cable all around the house, then into the house and the inner bit he stripped down to the inner white sheath so it all looks exceedingly neat.

Although Openreach sub-contractors, Kellys, get bad press sometimes, mine did a great job in quite heavy rain! He was flexible in taking the cable round the side of the house where I wanted it. He did, however, say that he is allowed to drill only one hole. He would not be able to drill another internal wall hole to take the cable to next room (only Openreach contractor would do that). This was not an issue for me.

I am powering the ONT from an extension lead.

They don't like using the same hole as the old phone line so would prefer to place the ONT somewhere else, as long as it's easy to get to from the original BT duct.
I was lucky in that when I had the kitchen done, I put sockets in a cupboard where the BT phone line, came in, so I just went six inches to the left. I have trunking that goes up the wall at that point, in to the loft, so I run an Ethernet cable to another room where my router is located. The trunking looks fine in a kitchen.

What if they pull the old line out and use that (if big enough for new cable), then can drill a new hole elsewhere? lol

I will have to see when they come and install the stuff, hopefully wont be too much hassle. I've seen a 15m power extension for the ONT incase needed, if they can't/won't install it in the kitchen or front living room where there is a power socket. Might just ask them first off it they can install it in the bedroom where the current modem is lol
