Oof - 46 in a 30

I got zero points, £800 fine and a 7 day ban for 47 in a 30.
When I went to court the guy in front of me was, doing 110 on the motorway in his JLR company car and got the same but a £500 fine because they means test you for the fine (Thames Valley magistrates in Oxford).

Lol, so the consensus so far is anything from 3 points and £100 to 6 points and £1600.

Cheers :D

I'll just wait it out and see what happens, first time I've ever been stopped so hopefully they take pity on me :p

FYI prior to covid they gave you a form to fill out whenever you got to court:

However, my times at court during/since covid they've just asked me similar questions (no where near as many, and sometimes don't care about your outgoings) whilst you're standing in court.

So just make up whatever and they'll fine you whatever, no one checks :D

Also, you can arrange payment plans with them if you wish. Interest free monthly payments of whatever you say you can afford ;)

46 in a 30 is a Band B speeding offence and with it going to court I'd expect more than the FPN quoted above

Though being your first ever offence should make it on the lower end of the scale

oooh, I got caught...2016? doing 41 in a 30. A road that went through a village at 30, then it goes to 40 for about 50 yards before it turns to 60. I basically got to 40mph a bit too soon.

I was offered the Speed awareness course....was very surprised.

Google says

Band B speeding fine would apply for someone caught doing between 41-50mph in a 30mph zone, in which case a fine equivalent to 75-125% of their weekly income would apply, with 4-6 penalty points on their license, or disqualification from driving for up to 28 days.
Over 3 points is probably going to make your insurers ***** up their ears too. So probably another hit there.

In my experience even 6 points for speeding doesn't really change much when it comes to insurance, if it was for a different offence that may make a difference but they don't seem too bothered about speeding alone.

Lesson learned here, I used to speed all the time only caught once although I had several where I got lucky.

But I only ever used to speed on NSL roads, again not judging, just much more likely to get caught.

I also personally don't think it's a good idea anyway in build up areas, again not judging because some limits are in stupid places where the road is no different to an NSL section 30 yards further on.

I don't speed anymore though, guess I got boring and it does save on fuel costs.

Must have changed somewhat...

Got done for 45mph in a 30mph - 3 points and £60 fine (was about 10 years ago now)

Ticket issued on the spot.
