Sorry people its another Spec me a car thread..

Anyway i have 5k for a car, Looking for something reliable and with good fuel economy, Also a lower band of road tax.

I probably do 15 - 20 miles locally per day with many short run's, every couple of months i tend to do long motorway runs to the in laws and my parents, up to a 700mile round trip, I have looked at many cars from Fiesta's to Meriva's up to ford C-max's but really not sure what is a good car.

I will also be getting rid of my current Peugeot 307 2.0HDI 110bhp on a 53plate with 102000 miles so will probably look at part ex'ing it, no idea how much they will give me though, I am expecting maybe 1k.

what do you think?

For the 307 itself you could probably get around 2-3 grand? I'm not too up to scratch with car prices, but 1k is nowhere near enough for a 53 plate Diesel.

Normally this would be the case, It's also the 110bhp S version which is pretty rare, Only issue is that it has 102000 miles on it, The MOT is up in Feb 2011 and i am not planning on renewing it and there are many scratches (although no major), 2 and 4 on the heater blowers do not work and i have had this stupid Anti Pollution light come up again with reduced performance (although this may be a cheap fix as i had a new Diesel Particle filter fitted 6 months ago and my mechanic thinks it needs a new sensor). This is why i am hoping for 1K part ex.

So fix the silly niggles, put an MOT on it and sell it for decent money.

Have considered this but hate this car, I have spent so much money on getting it through MOTS the last couple of years i really don not want to spend money on it, I might just get a price on getting it through MOT and see what they say and make the decision.

Well for me it would be easy as i'd just be looking at Honda. Plenty of choice in that price range, i'd probably look at a Civic 1.6 Sport if you want it to look tidy and be decent on fuel round town, they are very slow though and if that bothers you the 2.0 Type-S has plenty of go but obviously will be heavier on the fuel depending on how you drive because if small engines frustrate you then you end up wringing their necks anyway which means they arent as economical as you would have hoped
