So i just changed my motherboard yesterday, i was just putting the clips back into the base frame of a Arctic freezer pro 7 and managed to completely snap it!

Gutted, so as i needed my pc i put a little super glue on it and put the cooler in it's place as normal.

Do you think it will hold securely or am better off buying a new cooler. It seems quite secure, but i'm not sure how super glue is on plastic to plastic.

Any recommendations for a cooler that doesn't cost the earth, and will fit in a Lian-li pc c33b case (no taller or wider than the freezer pro as it only just fits)

Cheers, Rich.

Imo id change it asap, you got heat and very minor vibrations that could cause the clue to loosen.
Basically your weak point of the cooler is now the snapped area.

Seems a common-ish thing with those coolers. You'll find the glue dosen't hold after a few days of pressure and heat. Get a new cooler.

i did a similar thing a few years back, i managed to fix it with a thermosetting adhesive i pinched from the uni lab, it held fine till i got rid of the core2duo at least, though it was only the intel stock cooler, so not as heavy.

As i've got a new cpu, i think i'll treat it to a new cooler too :)

Just need one that's not too tall.

Heh funny, I have the exact same cooler and mine just cracked too when replacing the cpu (upgraded i3 550 to an i5 750).

I used some strong tape to hold it together (it hadn't broken completely), poked a hole in it for the screw and just used it as is. Unfortunately my temps are quite high though (reaches mid 80's under load if playing games for a while) without even being overclocked yet. My i3 was overclocked and would reach high 70's max, so I guess something is up *sigh*
