Ooopps... Suspended!

Was it a full on punch to the arm, or just a friendly tap?

Your mate completely over-reacted by punching you in the face either way.

Have you ever punched him in the arm like that before? Sounds a bit lovey-dovey to me if it was 'messing around':p

Well, I'm not bothered about working with him again, after we were both suspended we walked to the bust stop together and he even gave me train fare because I had left my wallet at home...

He did say he was sorry and he totally overreacted, he even said to the boss. He doesn't know why he went mad, but he's generally a good man.

And lol the debate was over the "if you cut a sandwich in half" question!

In that case depending on the company policy you might both just get a written warning or similar if you both go in apologise and explain it to the boss.

Are you really going to want to go back to work there? I mean the atmosphere isn't going to be great. Unless you have worked your way up to a high position in the company, I'd look for a new job.

You do know that it is difficult to find employment at the moment right?

And lol the debate was over the "if you cut a sandwich in half" question!
Haha!! Well I think if you explain to your boss what the argument was about, he will see that it is clearly an emotional and heated subject and, although not condoning the action, can understand why it might have led to fisticuffs

:D

Tbh I'd get proper legal advice from either a lawyer or my union before apologising. Your "mate's" behaviour was totally unacceptable, he should be gone no questions asked. Your post makes it sound like you were just larking around and with a bit of luck that may be judged to be not worth of gross misconduct - bit of a long shot though. Whatever though, you need to get proper legal advice to find out where you stand.

If you aren't in a union already it may be worth joining one and asking them if they can help with legal advice even though you weren't a member when the incident occurred.
