Op Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising

If you don't like the game you may have grounds for a refund, check out the Codies Forum they seem to have miss sold this game by recommending dedicated servers on the box but not actually making them available.

The Armed Assault series was always the true follow up to the original OFP. Codemasters just happened to own the rights to the OFP name and tried to steal the dedicated following from the original game.

I'm finding it quite good, is there anyway of skipping a mission, I'm really annoyed because I died just before the end of one and instead of loading the last checkpoint I clicked restart! Fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

This is why I rarely pre-order. I'm just in the process of downloading the demo from Steam, which seems to think the filesize is 200MB or so when really it seems closer to 2000MB.

Anyway, if I enjoy the demo then I might see if I can get a cheap second hand copy, if not then I'll probably get L4D2 instead.

Well im only about 4 mission's into the game but, despite its initial problems, i've found it quite good! there's plenty of scope to do missions how you want and it can be quite testing to get so far into one then die from being careless. The game isn't a patch on the original, it's very very console orientated so suffers in depth but if you accept that and just treat the game as an average shooter its decent fun.

Im on mission 2 and i just managed to blow up the radar site 8 hours after playing it. I then find i have 14 rounds left and get surrounded by the enemy. It seems you cannot win tbh. I might take it back it just frustrates me.

Surely in a real world situation (its supposed to be a simulator) you would be able to choose a proper sniper rifle with the thermal scope and a silencer?

console game, it had nothing to do with number 1. get arma if you after that.

I genuinely enjoyed it. But since completing it I haven't had any muster to pick it back up again. Unfortunately that's the way i've gone with almost every game bar Guitar Hero 3 in the past couple of years.

It's sad that so many deride this game as it just grows on you the more you play it. Sure it's difficult in parts but each time you restart you try a different approach till you get it right, that's the beauty of this game because it's total freedom to go where you want

Just playing the patch add on map 'uphill struggle' & you get 4 fireteams to control, one of the better maps as you have 16 men to work out an attack plan, also choppers to fly & jeeps to capture altho I've not managed to complete it yet :D

it was frustrating until I realised I could take my squad far away and leave them safe in a house. I then returned to the silo/radar dropped the explosives and moved far away before blowing it.

hate not being able to outfit my squads though :(

It's an ok game... As others have said some parts the AI decide they dont want to cooperate. I lost track of how many times I crossed the airfield on one of the middle levels only to find my team standing in open ground being cut down in seconds. Also the vehicles feel like they're cardboard boxes being driven on the moon.

There are some good bits though... One that stands out is one of the last missions where you have to stealth it about stalking a General or something... Then calling in the missile to level the place and leg it out of there.

Worth a play... possibly not worth two.
