I'm getting a new case this christmas and was wondering whether to go for the 600T or go for an all open case like the antec skeleton or go for a complete test bench style case like the Dima ones.

What's the advantage of open cases over enclosed ones? Do they cool better than enclosed cases?

Also do OCUK stock any work bench style cases?

Thanks
Jay

Skeleton, Lian-Li do some test benches, but 2 of them are DIY and the other one is M-ITX or takes years buying Micro-ATX or ATX mb plates.

Skeleton or Dima :)

from what i understand, skeleton cases are higher maintenance because they need to be cleaned a lot more (dont have the convenience of dust filters) but you get to see all of your lovely components inside

i doubt cooling would be better because an enclosed system has intake and outtake fans that make a "wind tunnel" effect which i *imagine* cool a lot better than just convection :)

EDIT: the only thing that is holding me back from getting a skeleton case is that i would spend all day cleaning it becuase i dont like dust :p

I've not looked at Lian li yet, I thought they would all be enclosed cases. I'll check those :).

The Dima ones are nice but like you said do I really want to be dusting every week? I could put a dust cover over it when not in use.

I always thought having an open system would cool better as there is literally no trapped hot air.

I just checked ocuk don't stock the skeleton no more and they don't seem to have any other bench types either...

Test benches may sound like a good idea at the time but really a closed case has better cooling and doesn't require a dust free environment/lots of cleaning.

They do look awesome though which is why my case (with another PC in/on) is going to be part of a display I am doing for a big promo for work.

If you want an ATX test bench definitely get a Dimastech. Soooooooo nice.

That's a really good idea! I like what you've done there going for the whole open top but a smaller case underneath sorta thing.

It's a shame I can't find a raven anywhere for sale or I would snap one up for test benching. Looks like Dima is the only other option but look at a competitors site they only have the basic one in stock and all the others are out of stock -.-

I have to agree, everywhere when I look inside my case I see dust specs stuck to the side of the perspex. I have to clean my radiator every month or so aswel.

650D looks nicer that is all.

You must have some sort of air filter then because my cooler fills with dust pretty fast and my room is damn clean.
Nope my mum owns her own cleaning business. So shes at the house like a ****ing robot, even the clean gets cleaned. Freak eh

If you have any questions about the dimastech test bench jay85 please feel free to ask. I love mine. It is used as a test bench now, rather than my main rig previously.
