Tried various fixes and when I took it apart and moved the laser towards the middle the disc played fine. But not its not reading discs anymore-ive not opened the XBOX again but looks like iam going to have too :( but doesnt anyone have any other advice on a fix?

It's happened to two consoles of mine. Pretty much all DIY fixes are (very) temporary. The drive'll need changed, ultimately. :(

Yeah well I do have another XBOX which has the RRoD. Can I take out that drive and literally swap it into my other XBOX? The two XBOX's are slightly different generations the newer one that has the open tray issue has an HDMI port and the RRoD hasnt.

look up 360 laser pot adjustment. its easy to do and has fixed several of my drives with this error

Not heard about this before, do you mean this kinda fix?

You cant just swap drives willy nilly I'm afraid, Would be easier just buying a new one considering the cost.

How come you can't swap drives? Doesn't seem to be any difference other than makes of the actual drives.

What buy a while new XBOX?

There are 4 types of drive, but mainly because the FW key will be different. Essentially, if you manage to swap the drive, you will probably be ban. As far as I am aware.

Each drive is locked to the individual console with a firmware key. If you take the drive out of one console, you need to clear that one, dump the key from the original drive, then flash that key to the cleared drive before it will work.

It's also a one-way ticket to an Xbox LIVE ban. Not worth it at all.

Well the xbox had been working fine pretty much until I got FIFA 11, and its loads up then says the disc is scratched-which it isnt as it plays in my mates xbox fine.

Black Ops plays fine in it, any ideas? Ive not changed the drive over btw.
