XP Home so the usual gpedit.msc solution will not work.

I'm getting it regularly, not just with EXE files but even right clicking on an mp3 and doing 'open with' Audacity.

Please tell me there's a way of turning the annoying thing off in XP Home, via a registry hack perhaps?

Have you only just installed SP2 or something?

This dialog has been apart of Windows ever since XP SP2... which was IIRC released in 2004!

Isn't there a Unblock button within the properties for the app? I get this with Vista and normally have to right-click, properties then hit the Unblock button.

There is an unblock option but it only seems to apply to the file rather than all files of that type.

eg. if I right click on an audio file and 'open with' Audacity, I get the security prompt. I can either untick the box to stop it asking me again (just for that file, not for all files of that type) or I can right click on that audio file, properties and 'unblock' it.

What I cannot apparently do is 'unblock' Audacity itself so that I don't get the security prompt for other audio files.

What happens if you select all the files that have that problem (normally it's because they come from a different computer so they may all be in the same place) and go to properties, does it still have the unblock button? Could maybe unblock them all at once :p

Happens even in Vista and drives me up the wall. Unticking that checkbox on the OP's dialogue box does bugger all too. Never been able to figure it out :/
