Currently deciding between OMV and plain old Debian, and my main "concern" is OMV's plugins (and whether they'd be just more hassle than installing through the CLI).

I found installing plugins to be much easier than doing it by CLI.

Select plugin, press install, reload webgui, config plugin, enable.

There is a demo site, or you could bang OMV into a VM and give it a try.
