Open Office any good ?

Hi All can anyone tell me if Open Office is any good as a product ? as its free too

and looks very pro

or are there any better ones ?

Have used Open Office for a while now and yes its extremely good. Covers just about everything you could need and is free, it dont get much better than that

OpenOffice is probably the best free and open source alternative to Microsoft Office.

Its free, so its well worth trying. I've used it for years with no probs.

Open office is great.

One downside, if your importing .doc files with a lot of formatting that you want to keep exactly. Then OO can't do this. As it messes up some formatting from .doc documents.
Other than that it's great.

im have is for about a month now and finding it almost identical to ms office. the only thing i can't find is a theasurus in writer but im sure its there, just not the same place as ms words one was. anyone know where it is?

I find it very useful, though that £40 or so offer for MS' Office does seem tempting.

I've been using OpenOffice for over 12 months now and love it... Microsoft Office is a complete and utter rip off and doesn't offer me and my family anything more than OpenOffice, and OpenOffice is FREE.

Must admit I've been tempted to check this out, but as my partner works for NHS she was able to get both Office 2003 and 2007 for £17.31. I've always been slightly wary of OpenOffice just in case it screws up any formatting e.g. when filling out job applications.
