I have an open plan living room, and also using Sky Q (its an LG OLED screen if that helps too)

I am not sure what to ask, watch a lot of movies and would like something bassy. Ideally, in the future I want to connect it using Alexa as well!

Budget is ideally <£1k... low profile / slim / wireless options preferred

Should I be looking at only 2.1 as wires going around the room will look really bad?

How big is the room and how open plan is it? Any pics?

Wanting bass in open plan rooms is often not easy and certainly won’t be low profile :D

It has a 5.5" woofer? That will be lost in a large open plan room.
Well, lots of assumtions being made here. The OP says "open plan LIVING room"... not sure exactly what that entails, is it a lounge and dining room open plan, does it include the kitchen etc?

Some dimensions and expanding on what "open plan" means would be very beneficial in others being able to help you, OP. Take your time to write your post as if you read back your opening post it doesn't actually mention what it is you want until you get to "Should I be looking at only 2.1" at which point ahah, we know you want a sound system of some sort.

I will always recommend the Samsung N950 (probably can't get it anymore, there will be a newer model but essentially the same thing) for a small footprint but big sound soundbar. I have one and am always very happy with what it produces when I sit down to watch something or game.

the samsung has been replaced by Q something or other. his budget is also less than £1K

well his budget is less than £1K and believe me the way yamaha have set this soundbar up it goes loud. enough to fill any room. it can make my whole house shake and i have an xxls 400 in the living room and the ysp 2700 is a bed room set up.
