Open source CMS recommendation for animal charity?

I'm looking for an open source CMS to enable an animal rescue charity to maintain its list of animals available for fostering and adoption. Ideally it would allow non-technical users to add, edit or remove photos and associated descriptive text.
A Windows solution would be ideal, as this would be easier for me to host locally.

Isn't Wordpress intended for blogs? (and by implication meaning that the oldest posts will appear furthest down the page?). With an animal rescue you'd ideally want the oldest information to be the most prominent, as they'll be the animals who have waited longest to be rehomed??
